Arthur knew at a young age that he was a natural at coiffure. His mother was his first ‘client,’ and later, her many friends and neighbors were a proving ground for what would become his life’s work.
Arthur Johns decided hair would be his profession.
First, he studied in his native Ohio, then in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Paris. He didn’t just focus on the basics of hairdressing; he wanted to do it all.
This ushered him to explore the mastery of wig-making and expertise in what at that time was called “hairpieces.” Soon, he was enmeshed in the fashion and entertainment arenas – all manner of ‘hair enhancement’ for women and men.
